New Nonprofit Launches to Protect and Restore the Guadalupe River Watershed in Kerr County

The Kerr County River Foundation (KCRF), a newly established 501(c)(3), launched in 2025 with a mission to enhance the Guadalupe River watershed through greenspace protection, scientific research, education, and collaborative community programming. Among its first milestones, KCRF assumed stewardship of the Kerrville Urban Trail System (KUTS), unifying trail development, habitat restoration, and watershed conservation under one organization.

Jeremy Walther serves as a founding director of KCRF. The foundation is governed by a seven-member board whose expertise spans water policy, conservation science, GIS, land law, and communications. Current programs include the Adopt-a-River Trail volunteer initiative, photo monitoring and GIS network, axis deer management, river short films, Coffee & Kayak educational events, Lions Park revitalization, and the Shady Streets urban canopy initiative.
