Pint & Plow Releases "Let It Grow" Golden Ale to Benefit Kerr County River Foundation

Pint & Plow Brewing Co. has released "Let It Grow," a golden ale honoring riparian ecologist Steve Nelle and raising money for the Kerr County River Foundation's watershed recovery work.

"It's a pilsner base with Munich and caramel malts, a low and slow summer sunset of a beer," said Jeremy Walther, owner and brewer at Pint & Plow Brewing Co. "Rich gold color, layers of flavor, and it finishes crisp and clean."

The release is named for Nelle, who spent a career teaching the Hill Country community about riparian stewardship and whose work shaped post-flood recovery efforts across Kerr County following the July 2025 Guadalupe River flood. Nelle co-authored the field guide "Your Remarkable Riparian" with Sky Jones-Lewey and Bill Carr, and appeared prominently in the documentary "Hope for the Guadalupe," which chronicles the river's recovery.

Nelle said the tribute recalled early riparian workshops he led with Jones-Lewey across the Nueces River basin, where she would bring a cooler of alluvial well water she called "riparian water" to illustrate how water is stored in a healthy riparian area.

"I think Sky would approve of riparian beer," Nelle said.

Customers who contribute $10 or more to the Kerr County River Foundation receive a pint of Let It Grow and a raffle entry for a Perception Tribe 9.5 kayak from Kerrville Kayak and Canoe. Raffle tickets are available at Pint & Plow, 332 Clay St. in Kerrville. The drawing will be held Aug. 29 at Trailhead Beer Garden's Salsa Fest. Entrants do not need to be present to win.

"We wanted to name a beer after someone who never asked for recognition but shaped how this whole region thinks about its watershed," Walther said.

"This is the kind of partnership that keeps the Guadalupe River healthy, neighbors coming together over a pint to support the watershed we all depend on," Kayte Graham, KCRF president, said.

The Kerr County River Foundation is a Kerr County-based nonprofit focused on Guadalupe River watershed stewardship, including greenspace protection, riparian habitat restoration and education.

Let It Grow is available now at Pint & Plow, 332 Clay St., Kerrville.
